In addition to logging in with your email and password, you\u2019ll use an app that generates a special code (also called a One-Time Password or OTP). This is the second security factor, in addition to your usual password.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bear in mind that Content Snare only allows 2FA setup with authenticator apps. SMS authentication is not available because authenticator apps are more reliable and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/top-5-reasons-not-to-use-sms-for-multi-factor-authentication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more secure<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Setting up 2FA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Get an authenticator app<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll need an app that generates these authentication codes before you get started. The most popular is <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/accounts\/answer\/1066447?hl=en&amp;co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&amp;oco=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Authenticator<\/a>, available for both Android and iPhone. Some other options include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.1password.com\/one-time-passwords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1Password<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/authy.com\/guides\/github\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Authy<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/account\/authenticator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Microsoft Authenticator<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Turn on 2FA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Content Snare, go to your avatar in the top-right corner and click <strong>Settings<\/strong> from the drop-down menu. Then go to <strong>Passwords and 2FA<\/strong> on the left side of the dashboard and click the <strong>Enable 2FA <\/strong>button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.contentsnare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/chrome_LBEpKuxLc2-1024x349.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1899\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A 2FA installation pop-up will appear, so you\u2019ll just need to follow the steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will be shown a QR code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open your authenticator app and add a new site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the QR code option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code shown by Content Snare.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Note<\/strong>: If you have trouble with this step, you can add a site manually using a special code below the QR code. Click the <strong>Show secret key for manual configuration<\/strong> link to reveal the code.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You should see <strong>Content Snare<\/strong> appear in your authenticator app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> in Content Snare.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.contentsnare.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/chrome_qAUT3Inktb.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1900\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will be asked to enter a six-digit code. Get this code from where it says \u201cContent Snare\u201d in your authenticator app. You may have to click <strong>Reveal PIN<\/strong> or similar.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Important<\/strong>: You will be shown some recovery codes. Copy them somewhere safe, where no one else can access them. These are used in case you lose your phone or you cannot access your authenticator app for some reason. If you lose your phone AND these codes, <strong>it will take several days to regain access<\/strong> to your account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two-factor authentication is now enabled on your account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Log in to your account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Next time you are logging in, you\u2019ll be asked to enter your authentication code. Simply open your authenticator app, find your Content Snare account and enter the six-digit code shown there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you select <strong>Trust this device<\/strong>, you will not need to enter a two-factor code again on the same device for 90 days. After this, you will need to enter your code again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Note<\/strong>: Two-factor authentication can be enforced for all users in your organization. This is available in Settings \u2192 Company \u2192 Security.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out what to do if you have trouble logging in with two-factor authentication.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disabling two-factor authentication<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not recommended, but if you would like to disable two-factor authentication:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Login to Content Snare<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to Settings \u2192 Security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the button <strong>Disable 2FA<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your Content Snare password<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click Disable 2FA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Delete Content Snare from your Authenticator app&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you enable 2FA at a later date, the old codes will not work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Note<\/strong>: If two-factor authentication is enforced by your company administrator, you will not be able to disable it.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Next steps:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/help.contentsnare.com\/knowledge-base\/files-and-storage\/\" data-type=\"ht_kb\" data-id=\"2053\">Managing files and storage<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a layer of security to your account.
