Web Business Weekly #36

Have you ever considered using gifts as part of your business strategy?
I just finished listening to a podcast episode* about exactly this. It was an interview with John Ruhlin, the author of Giftology.
Some of the stories in this episode were freaking cool. This book is now next up on my reading list.
It got me thinking. I used to regularly think about gifts for people. It could be just to say thanks or simply for being awesome over several years (e.g. by referring a lot of work). The reactions people had were amazing, and the relationships with these people are stronger than ever.
But for some reason it just fell out of my schedule. Now I regret that big time.
It’s pretty rare to receive a thoughtful gift in business. Giving one cuts through noise like nothing else. It can be one of the most powerful things you can do to attract more referrals and build great relationships.
And in case you haven’t noticed, relationships are everything.
I’d recommend listening to the episode to start with. It’ll prompt some ideas, and if you want to take it further, grab the book.
* I couldn’t link directly to the episode, but if you grab the latest episode of “Bacon Wrapped Business” from your podcast player, you’ll find it.
