Web Business Weekly #95

I’m currently listening to the book Unscripted by MJ DeMarco. At first, the somewhat arrogant content combined with the voice of the reader made me want to reach through my earbuds and strangle whoever is on the other end.
But the more I get through it, the more I like the message.
If you’ve been running a business for a long time you might not get much out of it. But otherwise there is a lot of potential mindset-shifting stuff in here so far (I’m only 1/3 through… it’s long)
It takes aim at the traditional system (the “Script”) of doing well in school, going to college and getting a job that traps you in.
But the part I’m loving right now is how it takes aim at the negative view people have of rich people.
Fraudsters and scammers aside, people tend to accumulate wealth based on the amount of value they put out into the world.
The same people that complain are probably using Microsoft, Apple or Facebook products – all things that create rich people. Or use a phone that has a lot of electronic components – all which made someone rich.
I think as a business owner it’s important to squash this kind of view. It’s something I’ve been working on and improving at for a long time. If you believe people with money are evil/bad/whatever, then surely you’re going to put up subconscious barriers that will stop you becoming one of them.
Just some random thoughts 🙂
